The Coffee

Another wonderful return, brought to us by the amazing team at Cofinet! This microlot is 100% Caturra, a variety that originated in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and is a natural mutation of Red Bourbon. Caturra is known for producing more coffee and being more resistant to plant diseases than Bourbon. The coffee for this lot was carefully hand-picked, ensuring only the ripest cherries were used, and then hand-sorted to remove any defects. Following this, the coffee was sundried on raised beds under temperature-controlled conditions until the ideal moisture content is achieved.

Suitable for all brewing methods.

Expect notes of blackberry, cherry and winey.

Glorious boozy cup
First time brewing El Indio and I couldn't be happier! I specifically wanted another winey coffee and the finish notes don't disappoint. For espresso I'm at 22g in and about 44-48g out, the longer end seems to get a better fruit note for me (maybe 32-33s), always finishes winey. This into two 4oz cups with a little milk is a brilliant start to the day. I'm playing about with my B75 dripper but so far so good at 16g in 250/260ml out in around 2m20s.

The best fruity tasting coffee
I think this is my favourite of all the different fruity tasting coffees I've tried from many different roasters. I've always come back to this and never been disappointed. Seems to be seasonal, so grab it while it's available.
